I have enjoyed my time at the department immensely. Despite some initial difficulties, getting ill and my original supervisor leaving Cambridge, I have felt supported and welcomed by the department. Everyone is highly intelligent, provides useful and productive feedback on research, and extremely open to collaboration. Additionally, people are very supportive and kind. I have found the atmosphere in translational research to be engaging and exciting – it's very cool to see individuals from a variety of backgrounds working together on joint projects. At a broad level, Cambridge provides a lot of opportunities unavailable elsewhere and options to join and participate in social and academic communities of a high calibre. I have been involved in the Scholars Council in the Gates Cambridge scholars community, ThinkLab at Judge Business School, and in sports both within and outside of the University. These have all presented ways to meet incredible people doing fascinating work and the foundation to build special relationships as well as unique networking opportunities.
