Graduate Admissions


Applications are invited for a 4-year PhD studentship working on redox flow batteries, supervised by Professor Clare Grey and Professor Dominic Wright. The project involves the development of organic electrolytes for large-scale electrical grid storage and will involve the synthesis of target molecules, electrochemical testing of performance and the analysis of redox flow batteries based on novel electrolytes.

Applicants must have (or expect to obtain) at least the equivalent of a UK upper second class Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science, ideally with experience in synthesis and a working knowledge of electrochemistry.

The studentship can commence in October 2020 or January 2021, and provides a maintenance grant and tuition fees at the UK/EU rate. Owing to funding restrictions the studentship is not available to non-EU nationals.
