Our postgraduate students have access to shared working space with networked computing facilities. However, most of our students find it useful to work with their own laptop.

Whilst our libraries are excellent, most students purchase books for their own use. Some research projects will require one or more of the following: fieldwork, visits and research overseas, specialist software, equipment and materials, the participation of (paid) volunteers. These can add sometimes significant costs to the research.

Students are asked to plan in advance for all necessary research funding, as far as is possible. If your project is dependent on the availability of such funds, you should discuss its viability in advance with your intended supervisor.
