Expected Academic Standard

Applicants for this course should have achieved a UK Masters (Distinction).

If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.

The basic requirements for admission to the PhD programme are

(i)  a First Class, or high II.i  (av. 68-69), Economics undergraduate honours degree from a UK university, or a GPA of at least 3.8/4.0 from a non-UK university. 

(ii) A Distinction-level Master’s degree in Economics equivalent to the Faculty’s MPhil in Economic Research. 

In addition, we strongly encourage applicants to include information about their ranking within their academic years, at both undergraduate and master’s degree
