Graduate Admissions

Apply using the Applicant Portal

The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal, where you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and request references.

An application is only complete when:

  1. you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
  2. you have paid the £65 application fee
  3. your referees have provided their references.

If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.

Applicants should include information explaining their motivation for the MPhil and details of any employment or other non-academic experience relevant to the subject of the MPhil.

Selection Process

Each MPhil student is assigned a principal supervisor to guide their research. They will work closely with their supervisor. Therefore before making an application, you must satisfy yourself that advanced study in your chosen field can be effectively supervised by the Department of Geography, and applicants should make contact with their chosen supervisor. Acceptance of any applicant will be dependent upon specialist supervision being available. Please consult the Research page on the Department of Geography website to obtain an idea of our current research interests.

If we cannot supervise your topic, we will decline your application regardless of its academic merit.

Applications are currently reviewed when they are received (rolling admissions).
