Teaching

One to one supervision

The University of Cambridge publishes an annual Code of Practice which sets out the University’s expectations regarding supervision.

Seminars & classes

The programme coordinates lectures on biostatistical analysis and career development throughout the year, which students rare required to attend at a total of approximately 10 hours per year.

Placements

We are able to offer industrial electives for a period of up to 3 months during the programme.

Feedback

The University of Cambridge publishes an annual Code of Practice which sets out the University’s expectations regarding feedback.

​Students should expect to receive ongoing feedback from all supervisors involved in their research project. This could take place during one-to-one or lab meetings. In addition, students can expect to receive a written online report each term.

Assessment

Thesis / Dissertation

All PhD students are required to submit a thesis of no more than 60,000 words, which is examined by Viva.

Other

All PhD students are probationary in their first year and must undergo a viva examination at the end of the year based on a report on their research project. This is examined by two assessors and, if successful, students are registered for the PhD and can continue with their projects.
