Graduate Admissions

Course closed:

Metabolic and Cardiovascular Disease is no longer accepting new applications.

Apply using the Applicant Portal

The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal, where you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and request references.

An application is only complete when:

  1. you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
  2. you have paid the £60 application fee
  3. your referees have provided their references.

If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.

There is a single round of admissions each year with available studentships advertised in November-December for entry the following October.  We are unable to consider applications at other times of the year.

Programme studentships are fully funded by Wellcome; we are unable to consider students with alternative (ie, non-Wellcome) sources of funding.

Visit the Wellcome Trust Four-Year PhD Programme in Metabolic and Cardiovascular Disease page on the Metabolic Research Laboratories website for details of the course.

This course is part of a scheme within the Graduate School of Life Sciences which enables three applications to be made with payment of a single £60 application fee. A list of other eligible courses and further information can be found here

Selection Process

All applications are considered together after the closing date. Invitations to come for interview will be issued in early-January 2019. If you have not been invited to interview by the end of January 2019 you should assume your application was unsuccessful.
