Grant Holder: Department of Pathology

Applications are invited for a three-year PhD studentship position funded by the Alex Hulme Foundation to start from October 2017. Funding will cover the student's stipend at the current Research Council rate and University Fees. **The studentship is only available to UK nationals and EU students who meet the UK residency requirements.

The successful candidate will join Dr Suzanne Turner's laboratory to investigate mechanisms of lymphomagenesis as they pertain to Burkitt lymphoma, a paediatric cancer of germinal centre B cells. In particular, this project will address mechanisms of disease evolution and tumour heterogeneity employing an established patient derived xenograft resource. High calibre candidates should have a first or upper second class degree in biological science or medicine, have excellent written and oral communication skills and be prepared to work as part of a team. The post-holder should be highly motivated, and keen to work within a multidisciplinary team. Additionally, the Department requires that by the time of interview all potential students must have fulfilled the language requirements for admission.
